On a Tuesday morning, May 17, 2022, a 27-year-old Black/African American man named Giovanni Canales was shot and killed in Philadelphia. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 a.m. on the 1600 block of Margaret Street in the East Frankford neighborhood. Canales was inside a dark gray Nissan Rogue when he was shot six times, including twice in the head.
