In the winter of 1910, the city of Tallapoosa, Georgia, lost a dedicated public servant in a sudden and violent manner. Marshal William Henry Maeger, a 53-year-old male, was shot and killed on Sunday, February 13th. His death occurred within the confines of the Old City Hall's basement, which housed the city jail.
