Fernando Lino Ortiz III, a 26-year-old Latino, was tragically shot and killed on March 26, 2014, near East 8th Street and Marietta Street in Boyle Heights, Los Angeles. According to the Los Angeles County coroner�s records, Ortiz was walking through a two-story apartment complex with a woman around 3:10 p.m. when three members of the Eighth Street gang approached them.
