Jonathan Ruperto Smith, a 21-year-old Black/African American male, was fatally shot on the afternoon of December 11, 2021, at the Chatham Place Apartments in North Charleston, South Carolina. At about 4:30 p.m., North Charleston police were dispatched to the area of Chatham Avenue near Remount Road and North Murray Drive after reports of gunfire.
