His family reported that in the days leading up to his disappearance, he had been struggling with his mental health, including PTSD and depression, and had made comments about harming himself. The search for Jesse Conger garnered national attention, partly due to a significant financial reward offered by a philanthropist for information regarding his whereabouts. His family and friends organized search efforts, believing he might have been traveling on back roads between Arizona and his hometown in Utah.
