In the autumn of 2019, 60-year-old Keith Leslie Stroup embarked on what seemed to be a routine trip, one that would unexpectedly lead to his disappearance. On October 28, 2019, he was last known to be in Yuma, Arizona, before he ventured into Mexico. A resident of the foothills area near Yuma, Keith was a man accompanied by his two beloved large, tan pit bulls. His plan was to cross the border into San Luis, Mexico, to check on his Ford Bronco, which was undergoing repairs. It was not unusual for him to make such trips, often with his dogs in tow. Communication from Keith on that day indicated he was at the San Luis Port of Entry, waiting in line to cross back into the United States. He sent a text message to a friend, letting them know he would see them later that night, a meeting that would never come to pass. The hours turned into days, and the silence from Keith grew increasingly concerning for his family and friends. After numerous unanswered text messages and a complete lack of contact, his mother, Freida, made the difficult decision to file a missing person's report with the Yuma County Sheriff's Office. The investigation that followed uncovered conflicting information. While Keith had texted about being at the border, official records from both the San Luis and Algodones ports of entry showed no evidence of him having crossed back into the United States. Adding to the mystery, there was a report that he had experienced car trouble after crossing the border, though the details surrounding this remain unclear. His vehicle, a white 2000 Honda CRV with Arizona license plate BVN3732, was equipped with a tow bar on the front bumper and a platform on the rear. This vehicle, along with Keith and his two dogs, has not been seen since. The search for Keith Stroup has been a long and arduous one for his loved ones. The Yuma County Sheriff's Office shared his case with local and national databases, but because he was under the age of sixty-five and did not have any developmental disabilities, a Silver Alert could not be issued. Keith is described as a white male, standing between 5'9" and 5'11" tall, and weighing between 170 and 190 pounds at the time of his disappearance. He had graying hair with a widow's peak and was balding on top, with hazel eyes. He has several distinct physical characteristics, including enlarged nipples from previous piercings, a scar on his chest from a burn, and a three-inch scar on his stomach from a surgery in his infancy. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance remain an unsettling mystery. He was on a familiar journey, one he had likely made before, yet on this particular day, he and his two loyal companions vanished, leaving behind a void of unanswered questions and a family desperate for resolution.
