On February 14, 1985, 24-year-old Shawn Thomas Heaney, a crewman on the fishing vessel *Alert*, was reported missing off the coast of Kodiak, Alaska. Heaney, along with four other crew members�Ray Basel, Melvin Wick, Paul Rowe, and Sveinn Adalsteinsson�vanished with the ship. The vessel, an 83-foot boat, was last seen in the Shelikof Strait, reportedly heading for the shelter of Bumble Bay.
