On August 1, 1988, a tragic incident occurred in the waters of Cook Inlet, near the Kalgin Islands off the coast of Homer, Alaska, involving a young boy named Petr Reutov. At just nine years old, Petr, also known as Peter, was aboard the 40-foot gillnet fishing vessel, the Yarmon, when he fell overboard.
