In the late summer of 1988, a young man named William Lisbourne Jr., a 21-year-old American Indian/Alaska Native male, vanished in Fairbanks, Alaska. On the evening of September 16th, he was reportedly attempting to cross the chilly waters of the Chena River at Fort Wainwright.
