On May 7, 1993, a 29-year-old man named Steven Willliam Charneski disappeared in the waters near Ketchikan, Alaska. That day, he was dressed for the rugged Alaskan environment, wearing blue jeans, a Carhartt jacket, and rubber boots. He was also equipped with a. 44 caliber handgun carried in a shoulder holster.
