On April 2, 2001, a then 20-year-old Male named Alejandro Ortiz Espino vanished under harrowing circumstances in the frigid waters of the Bering Sea. He was aboard the 92-foot fishing vessel, the Arctic Rose, which was home-ported in Dutch Harbor, Alaska, some 800 miles west of Anchorage. The vessel, owned by Arctic Sole Seafoods of Lynnwood, was engaged in harvesting rock sole when it suddenly disappeared about 205 miles northwest of St. Paul Island.
