In the spring of 2020, 34-year-old Jessica Marie Bedford, a female from Michigan, vanished, leaving her family engulfed in a mystery that would slowly unravel into a grim reality. The last time her family heard her voice was on Mother's Day, May 10, 2020, during a brief and seemingly ordinary phone call to her mother. A few days later, on May 13, she sent a text message to a friend, which would be her final known communication. At the time of her disappearance, Jessica had recently moved from her home in Brighton to a house in Lincoln Park. She was a mother to a thirteen-year-old daughter who was in the care of Jessica's own mother. Her family described her as having fallen on hard times in the years leading up to her disappearance, which led to her associating with a "rough crowd." Concern for her well-being grew when she failed to make any further contact, which was uncharacteristic for her. Her mother officially reported her missing on May 30, 2020. Jessica was a woman with distinct features, including blonde hair, brown eyes, and several tattoos. These included a dark pink hibiscus on her lower back, a garter belt with two pistols on one thigh, a blue and yellow moon with shooting stars on one foot, and the Detroit Tigers "D" logo on her hand. Her ears were also double-pierced. In the time before she went missing, Jessica had confided in her mother that her boyfriend was abusive, even sending a photo of herself with a bruised eye. Her last known address was on Hanover Street in Lincoln Park, but she was also known to frequent the Brightmoor neighborhood of Detroit and a Marathon gas station in Inkster. As the investigation began, police conducted searches at various locations connected to Jessica, including a home in Lincoln Park. Years would pass without any sign of Jessica, deepening the anguish of her loved ones. Then, in April 2025, a significant breakthrough occurred in the case. Keyvonte Deshawn Clark was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, mutilation of a dead body, and firearm offenses in connection with Jessica's disappearance and presumed death. Investigators believe that in May 2020, Clark fatally shot Jessica at his residence on Cloverlawn Street in Detroit and subsequently moved her remains to another location. Despite these charges, Jessica's body has never been recovered. The case against Clark has proceeded with disturbing testimony, including from an ex-girlfriend who alleged Clark confessed to the killing and spoke of burning the body. This case, which began as a missing person report, has evolved into a heart-wrenching homicide investigation, leaving a family to grapple with a profound and unresolved loss.
