In the late evening hours of June 13th, or in the early morning of June 14th, 2021, 85-year-old Reuben Peraza Benavidez, a Hispanic male, walked away from his home and vanished. He was last seen in the area of Valencia Road and Interstate 19 in Tucson, Arizona. Mr. Benavidez was known to take very long walks, sometimes covering eight or more miles at a time. It is believed he may have been attempting to walk to Bisbee, Arizona. His home is near a desert area that borders the Tohono O'odham Nation and the San Xavier Indian Reservation, areas he was known to frequent during his walks. Mr. Benavidez is described as being 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds. He has gray or partially gray hair and brown eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was last seen wearing a shirt of an unknown color and blue jeans. He has been diagnosed with several medical conditions, including dementia, diabetes, and high blood pressure, for which he requires medication. He did not have a vehicle and is believed to have been on foot when he went missing. The Tucson Police Department was notified of his disappearance and conducted searches of the areas he was known to frequent, but they were unable to locate him.
