In the early summer of 2018, a 31-year-old man named Hawk Dosela vanished from the rugged landscape of San Carlos, Arizona. A member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe, Hawk was last seen in the first week of June, walking near Bear Canyon with the intention of heading towards the mountain. At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing blue Levi jeans, a black shirt, and a distinctive jacket with patches of red, grey, green, and black. Friends and family knew him by the nickname "Hawk Boy," a familiar and endearing name now associated with a heart-wrenching mystery. His case remains open, a lingering question in the vast expanse of the Arizona wilderness where he was last spotted. Hawk is described as an American Indian / Alaska Native male with brown hair and brown eyes. Standing at five feet seven inches tall and weighing approximately 198 pounds, he has several distinguishing tattoos that his family hoped would aid in his identification. On one of his upper arms, the name 'Hawk' is tattooed, while 'Dosela' is inscribed on the other. He also has a tattoo of a joker on one of his arms and a birthmark near his left eye. These details, along with the clothing he was last seen in, have been widely circulated in the hopes that someone, somewhere, might have information that could lead to answers about his whereabouts. The official investigation into Hawk's disappearance is being handled by the Bureau of Indian Affairs - Office of Justice Services and the San Carlos Tribal Police Department. Despite the passage of time, law enforcement continues to seek any information that might shed light on what happened to him in the days and weeks following his last sighting. His case is a somber reminder of the ongoing crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous people, a reality that his family and community have been forced to confront. The search for Hawk Dosela continues, a testament to the enduring hope of a family waiting for their loved one to come home and a community seeking justice and closure.
