In late 1973, Margaret 'Renee' Armbrust and her husband, Anthony Armbrust, relocated from their home in San Diego, California, to a new life in Golden, Colorado. The couple, aged 25 and 44 respectively, settled into an apartment, bringing with them some personal belongings and their German Shepherd puppy.
