In the autumn of 2011, concern began to grow for 48-year-old Anthony Porter, a member of the Gila River Indian Community. The last confirmed contact anyone had with Anthony was on September 15, 2011, in Sacaton, Arizona. He was known to live a transient lifestyle within the community and relied on a wheelchair for mobility. His family grew worried when he did not appear to collect his monthly welfare check, which was mailed to his aunt's home, and they could no longer get in touch with him. This uncharacteristic silence prompted his family to report him as a missing person to the Gila River Police Department. Anthony is described as an American Indian/Alaska Native male with black hair and brown eyes. At the time he went missing, he stood between 5'6" and 5'10" and weighed between 210 and 230 pounds. He was known to frequent various areas within the Gila River Indian Community. Despite the passage of time, details regarding what he was wearing or any personal belongings he may have had with him on the day he disappeared have not been made available to the public. His case was officially entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) on May 9, 2023, many years after he was last seen. The investigation into Anthony Porter's disappearance has been ongoing since his family filed the report on October 16, 2011. The Gila River Police Department is the primary agency handling his case. His disappearance is one of several unsolved missing person cases within the Sacaton area. Living a transient life and being reliant on a wheelchair, Anthony was a familiar presence in his community, making his sudden absence all the more concerning for those who knew him. The lack of contact since September 2011 has left his family with unanswered questions and a profound sense of loss, as they continue to hope for any information that might lead to his whereabouts.
