In the late summer of 1992, a 34-year-old mother of two, Patricia Lynn Wilson-Swanberg, vanished from the city of Corvallis, Oregon. On August 10th, she was last seen by a coworker at the elderly home where she was employed, leaving to use a payphone. She was never heard from again. Two days later, on August 12th, after she failed to show up for her work shifts, her boss reported her missing. The same day, law enforcement located her car parked in the downtown commercial district. Inside the vehicle, they found her purse, but Patricia was gone. A search of her apartment revealed that all of her clothing and personal possessions had been left behind. The investigation into Patricia's disappearance quickly uncovered a troubled history of domestic abuse. Family members reported that she had been in an abusive relationship, and at the time she went missing, she had an active restraining order against her ex-husband. When questioned, her ex-husband claimed he had not seen her since the day before she vanished. The Corvallis Police Department, with assistance from other agencies, launched an intensive investigation, conducting area searches, some with K9 units, interviewing persons of interest, and examining financial records. Despite these efforts, the case grew cold, with no significant leads to her whereabouts. Years turned into decades, and while the official classification of her case remains "Endangered Missing," Patricia is presumed to be deceased by her family and law enforcement. The case remains open and active with the Corvallis Police Department, and investigators continue to work on it as new technologies and forensic practices emerge. A significant person of interest was identified during the investigation, but that individual has since passed away. Patricia's two sons and her sister have held out hope for answers, maintaining the same phone number and post office box in the event she might one day reach out. The disappearance of Patricia Lynn Wilson-Swanberg is a somber case that has left a family without answers and a community with a lingering sense of unresolved justice.
