On what began as a day of recreation, Vincent Paul Petrilena, known to friends and family as Vinnie, vanished into the waters of Lake Mead. On May 23, 2004, the 46-year-old was on a houseboat near Grebe Bay, located on the Arizona side of the Virgin Basin of the lake, near Las Vegas, Nevada. Seeking to enjoy the water, he went down the boat's slide to go for a swim.
