In the late 1990s, two young brothers, Austin Eugene Bryant and Edward Dylan Bryant, were placed in the foster care of Edward and Linda Bryant in Monument, Colorado. The boys, who were considered to have special needs, were officially adopted by the couple in March 2000. At the time of the adoption, Austin was four years old and his older brother Edward was seven. The Bryants, who adopted a total of nine children, received monthly financial assistance from the state for the care of the two boys.
