Anna Laura Costa Porsborg, a 22-year-old U.S. Army soldier, was last seen on December 27, 2022, in El Segundo, California. Originally from Santarém, Brazil, she had moved to the United States for an exchange program in high school and later enlisted in the Army as a path to citizenship. At the time of her disappearance, she was on vacation in Los Angeles with her boyfriend, Luis Antonio Gomes Akay, also a Brazilian national.
