In the winter of 2023, 39-year-old Ian Clinton Goldi, a resident of Iron Mountain, Michigan, traveled to Escanaba, a city where he had lived for about 15 years prior. He was last seen on January 29, 2023, at the Quality Inn in Escanaba. At the time of his disappearance, Ian was a father of two and was working in the construction industry, though he had recently been laid off. Friends and family grew concerned for his wellbeing when he failed to meet with family as planned in the Garden Peninsula and could no longer be reached. It was considered out of character for him to be out of contact for an extended period. The Iron Mountain Police Department officially received a missing person's complaint and began their investigation into his whereabouts. According to his mother, Ian had a history of substance abuse but had been making significant positive changes in his life. He had been saving money, purchased a car, was in the process of paying fines to get his driver's license back, and had moved to Iron Mountain for a fresh start after spending time in a sober living house. His family believes he may have planned to spend a few days in Escanaba before heading to the Garden Peninsula to visit his children. The investigation revealed some puzzling details; Ian had reportedly been staying at the Quality Inn for two days before he vanished, and a housekeeper had allegedly registered him and a friend under her name for a discounted rate. This was discovered by family members who went to the hotel after being unable to contact him. The circumstances surrounding Ian Goldi's disappearance remain unclear and the case is still open. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Delta County Sheriff's Department, Hannahville Police Department, and the Escanaba Department of Public Safety, have been involved in the investigation. His family does not believe he would have willingly walked away from his life, especially given his close relationship with his children. Ian is described as a white male with black hair and hazel eyes, standing at 5'11" and weighing around 200 pounds at the time he went missing. He has several distinct tattoos, including "Goldi" on his left arm, "Sara Lynn" on his right forearm, "Only God Can Judge Me" on his chest, and a cross with the name "Kodey" and a date on his right shoulder. He also has scars on his left forearm, right side of his face, and his upper left back and shoulder. The investigation continues as his loved ones await answers.
