Jared Michael Negrete, a 12-year-old Boy Scout, disappeared on July 19, 1991, during his first overnight camping trip in the San Bernardino National Forest, near the summit of Mount San Gorgonio. The Boy Scout group was hiking toward the summit when Jared, tired and lagging behind, was told to stay put while the rest of the troop completed the hike. When the group returned, Jared was gone.
