In the spring of 2001, a heart-wrenching story began to unfold with the disappearance of two-month-old Shausha Latine Henson and her older sister, Shaina Ashley Kirkpatrick. The two young girls were last seen on April 4, 2001, when they left their home in Portland, Oregon, with their mother, Kimyala Henson. They embarked on what was supposed to be a vacation to Canada with Kimyala's childhood friend, Christina Noel Mayer, and Mayer's boyfriend, Frank Lee Oehring. The group first traveled to California, where Kimyala obtained a copy of her birth certificate, a document Mayer and Oehring may have convinced her she needed to enter Canada. The journey took a dark and mysterious turn, leading to a series of tragic events. About two weeks after the group was last seen, Mayer and Oehring were found deceased in Florida in what was determined to be a murder-suicide. A letter left behind by Oehring detailed a plan to steal Kimyala's identity, and it was discovered that Mayer had already been using Kimyala's identification in Las Vegas. The grim discoveries continued when, on April 29, 2001, Kimyala Henson's body was found in a remote area near Fernley, Nevada. She had been brutally murdered. Authorities believe Mayer and Oehring were responsible for her death, as a hatchet with Kimyala's blood on it was found in their vehicle. Despite extensive searches and ongoing investigations, the whereabouts of Shausha and Shaina remain unknown. There was no evidence to suggest the children were with Mayer and Oehring when they traveled to Florida, and their car seats have never been located. The birth certificates for both children were also missing. Investigators have considered the possibilities that the children may have been harmed or sold to other individuals, but no definitive answers have emerged. The case is a complex web of identity theft, murder, and the heartbreaking mystery of two missing children. Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, continue to seek information that could lead to answers for the family of Shausha and Shaina, who vanished without a trace so many years ago.
