In the early hours of a Wednesday morning in October 2002, Noel Nathaniel Morris, a 43-year-old man known to his friends and family as "Nate" or "Snake," vanished from his apartment on West 32nd Street in Cleveland, Ohio. He was last seen at approximately 1:30 a.m. on his back porch. Accounts suggest he was being led from his apartment by a man dressed in D.A.R.E. clothing. After this sighting, Noel was never heard from again. The scene left behind in his apartment was unsettling; the lights and television were still on, and his essential medications and Camel non-filtered cigarettes were left behind. For a man who was in daily contact with his loved ones, this abrupt and uncharacteristic departure raised immediate concern. Noel was a man with a distinct appearance and significant health challenges. Standing between 6'2" and 6'4" with sandy, shoulder-length hair and blue or hazel eyes, he was a noticeable figure. His body bore numerous tattoos, including doves and a skull on his neck, a heart with the name "Gina," a teardrop under his left eye, and Japanese characters on his chest. He also had scars on his forehead and nose and a pierced left ear. More critically, Noel lived with chronic pain stemming from a past car accident, which left him with metal pins in his left leg, hip, and arm. This resulted in one leg being shorter than the other, forcing him to walk with a limp and the aid of a cane. He was also possibly legally blind without his prescription eyeglasses and relied on a number of prescription medications for pain, anxiety, and other conditions, none of which he took with him. The investigation into Noel's disappearance has yielded few answers over the years, and his case remains unsolved. The detail about the man in D.A.R.E. clothing is a peculiar and troubling aspect of the case that has not led to a resolution. The fact that Noel left without his cane, glasses, and vital medications strongly suggests he did not leave of his own accord. His family believes he may have been lured out of his apartment and into the alley from where he disappeared.
