On April 30, 2007, Lisa Stebic, a 37-year-old mother of two, vanished from her home in Plainfield, Illinois. She was in the midst of a contentious divorce from her husband, Craig Stebic, with whom she still shared the residence. That day, she had sent a petition to her lawyer to have her husband legally removed from their house.
