In the late hours of September 14, 1990, 10-year-old Kacey Ann Perry vanished from her father's home in southeast Portland, Oregon. That evening, Kacey and her father had a discussion that became an argument. Her father had suggested that Kacey should come live with him and his wife permanently, which upset her. After the disagreement, Kacey apparently left the house sometime around 11:00 p.m. She was a white female with blue eyes and shoulder-length brown hair. At the time of her disappearance, she was four feet, six inches tall and weighed 60 pounds. She had a large mole on the middle of her back and a scar near her right ankle. It is believed Kacey may have been trying to make her way back to her mother's home in Keizer, Oregon. After leaving her father's residence, she was reportedly seen by witnesses at a Kienow's Food Store, which was located about ten blocks away. She was seen carrying a purse that held a bright pink blouse with large black buttons. This purse and the clothing inside were later discovered abandoned near the store. Other possible sightings of her hitchhiking in the days that followed in Albany and near Wilsonville, Oregon, were never confirmed. The search for Kacey began soon after she was reported missing, with police dogs tracking her scent to a pond in a nearby park, but a search of the water by divers found nothing. A year after she disappeared, in August 1991, a man named Brian Keith George, who was a former boyfriend of Kacey's mother, confessed to her murder while in custody for bank robbery. He had remained close to Kacey and her family after his relationship with her mother ended. George claimed he had buried her body in a wooded area near Kelso, Washington, but extensive searches of the location he provided only uncovered animal bones. He later recanted his confession, and no charges were ever filed against him in connection with Kacey's case. The disappearance of Kacey Ann Perry remains an unresolved case, a painful mystery for her family and friends who continue to seek answers about what happened to the young girl who disappeared into the night so long ago.
