On a cold January day in 1980, a 30-year-old man named Robert Ahtonen vanished from the grounds of the Newberry Regional Mental Facility in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. He was a patient at the facility, and his aunt had planned to pick him up for a home visit on January 21st. A severe blizzard, however, delayed her arrival.
