In the late evening of May 27, 1994, 16-year-old Jody Lynn Brant embarked on a solo road trip from her home in Lawrenceville, Georgia, to visit her cousin in Pontiac, Michigan. An independent and spirited teenager, Jody was driving her black 1987 Ford Escort, a car she had purchased with her own earnings from a fast-food job.
