On September 23, 2003, 47-year-old Larry Edward Franklin was last seen in Grand Portage, Minnesota. He departed from the Grand Portage Lodge with the intention of driving to Cloquet, Minnesota. It was understood by his family that he would call them upon his arrival, a call they would never receive.
