On March 4, 2011, 19-year-old Alivia Kail, also known as "Liv," was last seen leaving her brother's home in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania. She was reportedly in good spirits, excited about a trip to Florida with her boyfriend, Alexander Lorenzi. Alivia, who had recently experienced the loss of her father and the end of a long-term relationship, seemed to be looking forward to the vacation, telling her brother that her boyfriend was paying for everything. She gathered some clothing and shoes for the trip and left with Lorenzi in his red Ford Explorer. That was the last time her family would see her. Days turned into weeks with no word from Alivia. Her family grew increasingly concerned when her cell phone went unanswered and was eventually disconnected on March 19 for non-payment. This prompted her brother and sister to report her missing. The investigation soon revealed that Lorenzi had returned to the Pittsburgh area on March 16, without Alivia. When questioned by Alivia's family and friends, Lorenzi gave conflicting accounts of her whereabouts, at times claiming she was still in Florida and at other times stating he had dropped her off at her apartment in Mount Washington, a claim her roommate refuted. There was no evidence to suggest that Alivia ever made it to Florida. As the investigation progressed, Alexander Lorenzi became a central figure, though he remained uncooperative with police. Searches of his home and vehicles uncovered drugs, a stolen gun, and some of Alivia's clothing, leading to his arrest on unrelated charges. Despite being a person of interest, he was never charged in connection with her disappearance. Authorities also investigated Alivia's ex-boyfriend but cleared him as a suspect. Over the years, multiple searches have been conducted for Alivia, including a significant search in a wooded area near the Allegheny County Airport where her phone last pinged, but these efforts have not led to her discovery. The case of Alivia Kail remains an open investigation, a painful mystery for her loved ones who continue to hope for answers. Her disappearance is a story of a young woman who vanished on the cusp of a supposed vacation, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions and a family desperate for closure.
