In the winter of 1973, a disquieting mystery began to unfold in Eugene, Oregon, with the disappearance of 49-year-old Kenneth King Wilson. On the evening of February 16th, Kenneth left his home around 7 p.m. and was never heard from again. At the time he went missing, he was described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown heavy-knit turtleneck sweater, brown slacks, and light tan oxfords. Kenneth also had a distinctive scar on the right side of his stomach. The morning after Kenneth was last seen, a grim discovery was made that shifted the focus of a missing person's report to a more alarming scenario. The owner of McCabe's Texaco station, located at 311 E. 11th Avenue, arrived to open his business at 7 a.m. on February 17, 1973, and noticed Kenneth's car was disabled at the station. Near the vehicle were a pool of blood and Kenneth's prescription eyeglasses, painting a violent picture of his final known moments. The evidence at the scene led investigators to believe that Kenneth had been the victim of an assault and was subsequently abducted. Decades have passed since Kenneth Wilson vanished, yet his case remains an open and haunting question for his family and the Eugene community. Despite the initial investigation and the ominous evidence found, his body has never been recovered. The Eugene Police Department has since classified the case as a homicide, believing he was a victim of foul play. The investigation into what happened between the evening of February 16th and the morning of February 17th continues, leaving behind a legacy of unanswered questions and the enduring pain of a family left without closure. The case serves as a somber reminder of a man who disappeared under violent and suspicious circumstances, his ultimate fate still unknown.
