On June 8, 2012, 29-year-old Lisa Marie Knight, a mother of four, disappeared from Ossineke, Michigan. She was last seen at the residence of her ex-husband, Lloyd Frey. That evening, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Lisa made a distressing phone call to a friend, asking to be picked up. She sounded upset but did not explain the situation, and her friend was unable to come and get her. This was the last time anyone is known to have heard from her. Frey, her ex-husband, told authorities that Lisa had left his home sometime during the night while he was asleep. Lisa did not have a vehicle at the time of her disappearance, and her cell phone has not been used since that final call. Initially, law enforcement considered the possibility that Lisa had left of her own accord, as she had a history of leaving for a few days at a time, though she would always stay in contact with her mother. However, as days turned into weeks with no word from her, concern grew among her family and friends. Four days after she was last seen, after failing to show up for an appointment, a close friend reported her missing to the Michigan State Police. Her case, which was at first treated as a standard missing person investigation, is now being investigated as a homicide as foul play is suspected. Police have stated they believe she is likely deceased. Lisa's family has expressed that her love for her children makes it unfathomable that she would voluntarily cease all contact with them. Over the years, the investigation into Lisa's disappearance has continued, with Michigan State Police following up on numerous tips from across the country and even from other countries, yet none have led to a breakthrough in the case. Lloyd Frey has been identified as a person of interest, and though he has cooperated with the police, searches of his property, including with the use of cadaver dogs and the examination of freshly poured concrete, have not yielded any evidence of human remains. The case has been an ongoing source of pain and uncertainty for her family, who continue to hope for answers and closure. The Michigan State Police maintain that the investigation is active and they remain hopeful that someone with information will come forward. The disappearance of Lisa Marie Knight is a perplexing case that began with a troubling phone call and has left a family waiting for answers for over a decade.
