On an evening in the spring of 2014, a 26-year-old man named Lonnie Lee Wilkins disappeared from Ypsilanti, Michigan, leaving behind a mystery that endures for his family and community. On April 25, 2014, Lonnie's girlfriend dropped him off around 9:00 p.m. at a Kroger grocery store on Carpenter Road in Pittsfield Township. He was an African American male with black hair, often worn in braids but pulled back into a ponytail that day, and hazel eyes. Later that evening, he was captured on surveillance video in the parking lot of a nearby Speedway gas station. This would be the last confirmed sighting of him. At the time he went missing, Lonnie was wearing a black spring jacket, a polo shirt with red and white horizontal stripes, gray pants, and flip-flops.
