In May of 2014, a six-year-old girl named Kaylah Hunter disappeared from Detroit, Michigan, along with her mother, Alicia Fox, and her infant half-brother, Kristian Justice. The family of three was last seen on May 24, 2014. Concerns for their safety grew when Kaylah, who was reportedly excited about her kindergarten graduation, did not attend the ceremony on June 5th. This absence prompted family members to file a missing persons report the following day. When relatives went to their home on Ardmore Street, they discovered it completely empty, which was highly uncharacteristic. The search for the family took a tragic turn on June 9, 2014, when Alicia Fox's body was discovered in the basement of a vacant house. An autopsy revealed she had been shot multiple times. There was no trace of Kaylah or her baby brother at the scene. The investigation into Alicia Fox's murder quickly focused on her husband and Kristian's father, Erin Justice. Authorities learned that Justice had a history of violence and a criminal record. Evidence suggested that Alicia was killed in their home sometime between May 25 and May 27. Investigators found a bullet hole in a wall and blood on a ceiling in the house. Shortly after the estimated time of the murder, Justice was seen driving a U-Haul truck extensively around Detroit. He was later arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, and charged with his wife's murder. Another man, Timothy Jones, was charged as an accessory, having allegedly helped Justice move Alicia's body. Jones informed investigators that the children were alive when he assisted Justice. Despite his arrest and subsequent conviction, Erin Justice has remained silent about the whereabouts of Kaylah and Kristian. The disappearance of Kaylah Hunter and Kristian Justice remains an open and agonizing case for their family. While Erin Justice was sentenced to a long prison term for the second-degree murder of his wife, he has never been charged in connection with the children's disappearance and has offered no information about their fate. One detail that has troubled investigators and given the family a sliver of hope is that while all of Alicia's belongings were found, none of the children's items, such as furniture, clothes, or toys, have ever been located. This has led to speculation that the children may have been given to someone, possibly in the Detroit or Atlanta areas. The family continues to hold out hope and actively searches for answers, maintaining a social media presence to keep the children's story in the public eye. The case is a heart-wrenching story of a mother's life cut short and the enduring mystery of her missing children, leaving a family in a perpetual state of uncertainty and grief.
