In the autumn of 1993, a 38-year-old man named William Edward Bibby vanished from Troy, Michigan. He had been paroled earlier that year to a residence in Oakland County after serving time for theft. Sometime between September and November, he left the residence and has not been seen or heard from since. His family has had no contact with him, and his disappearance left behind a void of information and a lingering warrant for a parole violation. William is described as a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, standing between 5'7" and 5'9" and weighing between 170 and 190 pounds. He has several distinguishing marks, including a scar on his back and another on his right wrist, along with a tattoo of the number "13" on his right forearm. The circumstances surrounding William's disappearance are intertwined with another unresolved case from nearly a decade earlier. In 1984, a 25-year-old woman named Terry Sovey went missing from Millington, Michigan. William Bibby was the last known person to have seen her. Investigators learned that he and Terry had traveled to Millington together, where he was involved in thefts. William told authorities that he and Terry had an argument in a rural, swampy area behind a farmhouse. According to his account, she met someone else there and he left on foot after losing his car keys. After Terry's disappearance, William served prison time for the thefts he committed in the area. While he has not been officially named a suspect in her case, law enforcement has expressed a desire to re-interview him about the events leading up to her vanishing. The trail for William Bibby has long since gone cold. Following his parole in 1993, he made a single phone call to his brother and then effectively disappeared. An outstanding warrant for parole violation remains active, and his case is officially classified as a missing person. The Michigan Department of Corrections lists him as an absconder from parole as of December 7, 1993. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office continues to hold the case file for his disappearance, a silent testament to a man who walked away from his parole obligations and into obscurity. The lack of contact with any family members since that time deepens the mystery of his whereabouts and his ultimate fate.
