In the early summer of 2013, a 25-year-old man named Jayme Vaughn Bryant vanished from Kalamazoo, Michigan. On June 29, 2013, Jayme, a tall man at six feet, six inches with a thin build, brown hair, and blue eyes, was reportedly last seen in the downtown area of the city. At the time of his disappearance, he was said to be wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans. The day before, on June 28, Jayme had been to the hospital after what he described as a fall down a flight of stairs that resulted in a head injury. Doctors were concerned he might have pneumonia and had instructed him to return for a follow-up appointment. He had spoken to his mother and told her he would call after his appointment, but that call was never made. Jayme was known to live a nomadic lifestyle, often moving between friends' homes with his belongings in a backpack. Because of this, it wasn't immediately alarming when friends and family didn't hear from him for a week or so. However, as more time passed with no contact, concern grew, and he was reported as a missing person. In the initial stages of the investigation, there was a belief that Jayme may have attended the Electric Forest music festival in Rothbury, Michigan, around June 30th. This lead, however, was based on speculation from friends and was never substantiated with any confirmed sightings or evidence. Jayme has several distinct tattoos, including the word "Whiskey" on his ribcage and an outline of the state of Michigan on his arm. Years have passed since Jayme Bryant was last seen, and his case remains unsolved. Despite efforts by his family, including the creation of a Facebook page to gather tips, and features on podcasts, no significant leads have emerged to explain his sudden disappearance. Initially, it was believed he was last seen at Bronson Hospital on June 29, but later information that surfaced in 2020 suggested this might not be accurate and that his last traceable action was a phone call to a roommate in the afternoon. The mystery of what happened to Jayme after his hospital visit and his subsequent disappearance continues to be a source of pain and uncertainty for his loved ones, who are still seeking answers. The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety continues to have the case open, and anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.
