In the winter of 2003, concerns grew for 39-year-old Thomas Alfred Witwicky, a self-employed computer consultant living in Tucson, Arizona. The last time anyone had definitively heard from him was on February 11, 2003, when he made a phone call to his mother in Florida. That same day, he also logged onto his computer for the last time. Having relocated to Tucson from California two years prior, Thomas was living in the Pinnacle Heights Apartments. As weeks turned into a month with no word, the management of his apartment complex requested a welfare check in March, which led to the discovery that Thomas was missing. Upon entering his apartment, investigators from the Pima County Sheriff's Department found it locked and in order, with no signs of a struggle or forced entry. Curiously, many of Thomas’s personal belongings, including his car, keys, wallet with cash and credit cards, were all left behind. However, a few key items were conspicuously absent: his handgun, a spare key, and his cell phone. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance were puzzling, as he seemed to have vanished from his life leaving most of his essential possessions behind. The investigation into Thomas Witwicky's disappearance has continued over the years, but his case remains unsolved. The Pima County Sheriff's Department has kept the case open, and it is considered an endangered missing person case. With no significant leads or evidence to suggest his whereabouts or what might have happened to him, the lack of resolution has left his family and community with unanswered questions. The case is an overview of a man who was last in contact in early 2003, whose disappearance was discovered a month later under unusual circumstances, with personal effects both left and taken from his home, and whose whereabouts are still unknown.
