In the autumn of 2015, a period of routine and connection abruptly ended for the family of David E. Mugan, a 65-year-old man from Versailles, Kentucky, who also went by the name David E. Gosnell. His wife had been out of town for approximately two and a half months, a time during which she and David maintained their bond through daily phone calls.
