On August 10, 1977, Arnold Giovanetti, a 41-year-old male, disappeared from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On the day he went missing, he was reportedly on his way to a residence at 19th and Reed Street, a destination he apparently never reached. At the time of his disappearance, he was dressed in a tan shirt, pants, and blue leisure shoes. The circumstances surrounding his vanishing became more perplexing when his vehicle, a 1977 white Cadillac Eldorado, was discovered abandoned in a parking lot at the Philadelphia International Airport the following day. The discovery of his car at the airport prompted his concerned family to circulate his photograph among the airport's airline employees in the hopes of gathering information. Their efforts yielded a potential lead when two employees from Eastern Air Lines reported that they might have seen Giovanetti. They recalled seeing a man resembling him at a ticket counter and later in an airport restaurant, accompanied by two unidentified men. According to these witnesses, it was possible that Giovanetti had purchased a ticket for a flight to Montreal, Canada. This promising lead, however, quickly became uncertain. In an attempt to verify the sighting, Giovanetti's brother-in-law traveled to New York to speak with a stewardess who had been on the Montreal flight in question. When shown a picture of Arnold Giovanetti, the stewardess could not recognize him, casting doubt on the airport sighting and leaving the investigation at a difficult crossroads. The initial hope that he had voluntarily traveled to Canada began to fade, deepening the mystery of his disappearance. The case remains an unsolved and troubling puzzle, with a man last seen heading to a local address, his car found at an international airport, and a potential sighting that led to a dead end, leaving his family with unanswered questions.
