On June 13, 2018, Tianna Ann Phillips, a 25-year-old mother of two, disappeared from Berwick, Pennsylvania. That evening, she went to a friend's house after an argument with her boyfriend. She told her friend that a man named "Dave" was coming to pick her up. It was uncharacteristic for her to be out of contact with her loved ones, and concern grew as she had no driver's license, was not employed at the time, and had left her cell phone behind. Earlier that day, she had posted on Facebook, publicly announcing that she and her boyfriend had broken up. This would be one of her last known communications. For nearly three years, Tianna's family, particularly her sister, tirelessly searched for answers, using social media to keep her story alive. A significant breakthrough in the case came in December 2020 with the arrest of Harold David Haulman III for the murder of another woman, Erica Shultz. This development prompted Tianna's sister to contact investigators, providing them with text messages showing that Haulman had been in contact with Tianna. It was soon discovered that "Dave," the man Tianna was waiting for on the night she vanished, was indeed Harold Haulman. He and Tianna had met on a dating app, and though he was married and she had a boyfriend, they had been seeing each other. The investigation revealed a horrifying truth. Haulman later confessed to Tianna's murder. He admitted to picking her up and driving her to a wooded area near Hobbie Road under the pretense of building a fire. There, he attacked her, striking her with a hammer before stabbing her and slashing her throat. Haulman even showed pictures of her body to his wife to prove what he had done. Months after the murder, he and his wife returned to the scene to dispose of evidence, placing clothing and some of Tianna's remains in dumpsters. In September 2021, to avoid the death penalty, Haulman pleaded guilty to the murders of both Tianna Phillips and Erica Shultz and was sentenced to two life terms in prison without parole. He later confessed to a third murder, that of Ashley Parlier, who went missing in Michigan in 2005. Despite his confession, Tianna's body has never been found, leaving her two sons and a devastated family without a final resting place for her.
