In the summer of 2015, a 20-year-old woman named Carmen Forsythe disappeared from Salem, Oregon, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions. At the time of her disappearance on June 15, 2015, Carmen was reportedly experiencing homelessness in the Salem area. She was a daughter, a friend, and a young woman whose life took a turn that led her away from the familiar and into a situation that remains shrouded in mystery. Her family and friends were left to piece together the last known moments of her life, holding onto the hope that she might one day return safely. The circumstances surrounding Carmen's disappearance are unsettling. It is believed that she left Oregon in the company of three unknown homeless men with the intention of traveling to California. A glimmer of hope for her safe passage came in the form of a phone call to her aunt, confirming she had arrived in California and was making her way to the city of Chico. This was followed by a few text messages to her aunt, in which she promised to call upon her arrival in Chico. However, that promised phone call never came, and all communication from Carmen ceased, leaving her loved ones in a state of perpetual worry. Years have passed since Carmen Forsythe was last heard from, yet her case remains open. The initial report to the Salem Police Department was not made until January 13, 2019, years after her last contact. The details of her journey and the identities of the three men she was traveling with remain unknown, complicating the investigation. The lack of new information has left her family with more questions than answers. The case serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the vulnerabilities faced by those in transient situations and the enduring pain experienced by families of the missing. The hope for answers and for Carmen's safe return, or at the very least, for closure, persists within her community and among those dedicated to resolving the cases of the missing.
