Monica Renee Chavez, a 30-year-old mother of five, was last seen in Phoenix, Arizona, on January 2, 2019. Known to her loved ones as Kika, she was last seen in the area of 2300 West Indian School Road. On the evening of her disappearance, she had a conversation with her mother. The following day, she was reportedly at a motel on 23rd Avenue, just south of Thomas Road. She had rented a room for a few hours that morning, purchased a phone, and left it with an employee, stating she would return for it. However, Monica never came back for the phone and has not been seen or heard from since. Her family reported her missing on January 12, 2019, deeply concerned for her welfare as they believe she may have met with foul play. At the time she went missing, Monica was described as a biracial Hispanic and Native American woman, standing at 5'4" and weighing around 100 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She has several distinct tattoos, including a footprint with the name "Anthony" on her upper left back, a butterfly with the name "Mia" on her upper right back, and a blue or black rose on her left chest. She also has pierced ears and scars on her wrists and lower legs. Monica's life before she vanished was fraught with challenges. She was struggling with a serious drug addiction, specifically to fentanyl, which had led to the loss of her apartment and her separation from her husband. Despite her struggles, she remained in contact with her family and was a loving mother who never missed a holiday or birthday with her children. Her children were living with their grandmothers in the year leading up to her disappearance. The investigation into Monica's disappearance has been difficult, with few leads for law enforcement to follow. Phoenix police suspect foul play is involved in her case. According to her family, Monica was involved in prostitution to support her addiction and was scheduled to meet a man from Tucson on the day she disappeared, but they never connected. Her family actively searched for her in the areas she frequented and distributed flyers, but no one reported seeing her. The fact that she did not return to the places where she was regularly seen is particularly concerning to her loved ones.
