In the spring of 2007, 21-year-old Masumi Watanabe, a shy and artistic Japanese national, was staying with relatives in Oahu's serene North Shore community of Pupukea. She had previously visited Hawaii in September 2006 and loved it so much that she returned in February 2007. Masumi volunteered at Sunset Beach Elementary School and often took walks in the neighborhood. On April 12, 2007, during one of her routine morning walks, she vanished without a trace.
Witnesses reported seeing Masumi between 9:20 and 10:00 a.m. on April 12, walking along Pupukea Road. Notably, she was seen entering a Hauoli Termite and Pest Control truck driven by a Caucasian man. Observers noted that Masumi appeared confused and was not conversing with the driver, who was speaking to her. This sighting would be the last confirmed account of her whereabouts.
Following her disappearance, the Honolulu Police Department launched an extensive investigation. Attention quickly turned to Kirk Matthew Lankford, a 22-year-old pest control technician employed by Hauoli Termite and Pest Control. Lankford had been working in the area on the day Masumi disappeared. A search of his company truck revealed Masumi's blood and her prescription glasses wedged between the backrest and front passenger seat. Additionally, the truck's passenger-side windshield was cracked, which Lankford attributed to a bird strike.
Further suspicion arose when a witness reported seeing a man digging a hole near Kahana Bay around midnight on April 12. The man claimed he was searching for a lost gold chain. The witness took note of the man's vehicle license plate, which matched Lankford's personal truck. This information, combined with the forensic evidence, led to Lankford's arrest on April 26, 2007, and subsequent charge of second-degree murder. ...Read More

on Vanished at Sea: The Mysterious Disappearance of Cameron Booth Off Chincoteague's Coast
He was a criminal, an abuser, likely who didn't want to face justice of his actions and took his own life because he could not face the consequences of what he did. The victims have told the family his crimes, with evidence. The family knows he was arrested and convicted of possession of CSAM. They know who and what he was. And they're all so equally sick they live in comfort that the victims don't want to retraumatize themselves over everything he put them through. Dont support this families sick parade of using a monster to get sympathy. He was never ashamed of who he was. He loudly boasted his crimes and justified them. The family shouldn't sit there and pretend, how far from reality are they to sit and post this man publicly on news outlets, websites, knowing who he is. Do they need attention that badly? They don't want the attention from the truth. The victims will never get justice. Do not pray for him o
