The case of Steve Lewis Arrowood Jr., an 18-year-old from Gastonia, North Carolina, remains one of the enduring mysteries in the annals of missing persons. Disappearing without a trace in 1975, his story intertwines youthful impulsiveness, a clandestine affair, and unresolved suspicions. Despite the passage of decades, the circumstances surrounding his vanishing continue to perplex investigators and haunt his family.
Born on June 26, 1956, Steve was the only son in a family of five, growing up alongside his four sisters in Gastonia. Described as soft-spoken and kind-hearted, he was known for his gentle demeanor and close-knit familial bonds. His upbringing in the 400 block of Chestnut Street painted the picture of a typical Southern household, deeply rooted in community values.
In early 1975, Steve became romantically involved with a 30-year-old married woman from Dallas, Texas. This clandestine affair led him to abruptly leave his family home on March 9, leaving behind a note devoid of details about his destination. He withdrew $815 from his savings account and journeyed to Dallas to be with her. The relationship took a perilous turn when the woman's husband, a long-distance truck driver, discovered the affair on March 30. Enraged, he threatened Steve's life. In a bid to placate her husband and ensure Steve's safety, the woman agreed to accompany her spouse to New Orleans, provided he spared Steve. Subsequently, Steve returned to Gastonia on March 31.
Upon his return, Steve confided in friends about his escalating fear that the woman's husband was stalking him. He recounted multiple instances of feeling watched and believed that the man was trailing his movements. This mounting anxiety overshadowed his daily life, casting a pall over his interactions and routines....Read More

on Vanished at Sea: The Mysterious Disappearance of Cameron Booth Off Chincoteague's Coast
He was a criminal, an abuser, likely who didn't want to face justice of his actions and took his own life because he could not face the consequences of what he did. The victims have told the family his crimes, with evidence. The family knows he was arrested and convicted of possession of CSAM. They know who and what he was. And they're all so equally sick they live in comfort that the victims don't want to retraumatize themselves over everything he put them through. Dont support this families sick parade of using a monster to get sympathy. He was never ashamed of who he was. He loudly boasted his crimes and justified them. The family shouldn't sit there and pretend, how far from reality are they to sit and post this man publicly on news outlets, websites, knowing who he is. Do they need attention that badly? They don't want the attention from the truth. The victims will never get justice. Do not pray for him o
